Description

A fun and exciting recipe to create glow-in-the-dark sour candy crystals that are perfect for parties and family activities.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 packet of unsweetened flavored drink mix (e.g., lemonade or grape)
  • 23 tablespoons citric acid
  • Edible glow-in-the-dark powder
  • Baking sheet or parchment paper
  • Saucepan
  • Candy thermometer
  • Mixing spoon
  • Small bowls for coating

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by clearing and cleaning your working area.
  2. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir well until fully combined.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and heat until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), stirring continuously to prevent burning.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the flavored drink mix and edible glow-in-the-dark powder until completely mixed.
  5. Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it cool for about 30 minutes before breaking it into desired sizes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix citric acid with a bit of sugar. Roll each crystal in the mixture for a tangy finish.
  7. Once fully cooled, store in an airtight container until ready to enjoy.

Notes

Experiment with different flavored drink mixes and add food coloring for vibrant hues.
