A fun and creative DIY project to make a glow-in-the-dark galaxy jar, perfect for decor and nightlights.
Ingredients
- A clean, empty glass jar with a lid
- Glow-in-the-dark paint (various colors recommended)
- Acrylic paint (optional for galaxy effect)
- Water
- Paintbrushes or foam brushes
- A small bowl or container for mixing
- A spoon for stirring
- Optional: Glitter for added effect
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a flat surface and protect it with newspaper or a plastic sheet.
- Gather all materials to have everything within reach.
- Create the Paint Mixture: In the bowl, mix your glow-in-the-dark paint with a little water. If using acrylics, add them as streaks to the mixture.
- Paint the Inside of the Jar: Start from the bottom and swirl the glow paint upwards in circular motions, layering acrylic paints for stars and nebulae.
- Add Glitter (Optional): Sprinkle glitter into the wet paint for extra dimension.
- Let It Dry: Place the jar upside down to dry for at least 2-3 hours, or until completely dry.
- Charge and Enjoy: Expose the jar to bright light, then turn off the lights to watch your galaxy glow!
Notes
Mix different glow paints or use smaller jars for compact designs. Avoid washing the inside of the jar once painted.
