Ingredients

  • Glow-in-the-dark paint or powder
  • Small mason jars or glass containers
  • Wire (for firefly antennae)
  • LED tea lights or small battery-operated lights
  • Craft paper or colored paper (for wings)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Lay down newspapers or a plastic sheet to protect surfaces. Gather materials.
  2. Make the Wings: Cut out wing shapes from craft paper, making two per firefly.
  3. Paint the Body: Use glow-in-the-dark paint on the mason jar; apply at least two coats, allowing to dry.
  4. Assemble: Attach wings using hot glue. Create antennae with pipe cleaners if desired.
  5. Insert Light: Place the LED tea light inside the jar, ensuring it’s on.
  6. Decorate the Base: Wrap floral tape around the base of the jar.
  7. Charge the Glow: Expose the jar to light to charge the glow paint.
