Description
A delightful DIY project that transforms jar lids into beautiful, dazzling suncatchers, perfect for home decor and gifts.
Ingredients
- Clean, empty jar lids (various sizes)
- Clear plastic or transparent craft sheets
- Glitter (assorted colors)
- Mod Podge or clear-drying glue
- Scissors
- String or fishing line
- Hole punch
- Paintbrush
- Optional: beads, sequins, or small charms for extra decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the Lids: Clean and dry the jar lids thoroughly, choosing which side will be the front for your suncatcher.
- Cut the Plastic Sheets: Cut the clear plastic or craft sheets into circles or shapes that fit inside the lids, leaving extra around the edges to secure them with glue.
- Glitter Time: Use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge to the plastic circles inside the lids and sprinkle glitter over the wet glue, tapping off excess.
- Secure the Plastic: Place the glitter-covered plastic inside the lid and press down gently, allowing to dry for 1-2 hours or until completely set.
- Punch Holes: Using the hole punch, create a hole at the top of each lid for hanging.
- Hanging the Mobile: Cut pieces of string or fishing line in various lengths and attach each lid to the strings, securing with knots.
- Final Assembly: Gather all strings and tie them to a central hoop or stick to create the mobile, adjusting the lengths for a balanced look.
