Description

A delightful DIY project for creating colorful gelatin flower suncatchers, perfect for brightening any space.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin powder
  • Edible flowers (like pansies, nasturtiums, or violets)
  • Silicone mold or plastic cookie cutters
  • Straw (for hanging, optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather your edible flowers and rinse them gently to remove any dirt or debris. Set them aside to dry while you prepare the gelatin mixture.
  2. In a small pot, heat 1 cup of water until it’s just warm (not boiling). Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of gelatin powder, stirring constantly until fully dissolved. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve your preferred hue.
  3. Place flowers in the silicone mold or cookie cutters, arranging them as desired. Carefully pour the gelatin mixture over the flowers, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  4. Allow the gelatin mixture to cool for a few hours at room temperature, or refrigerate for quicker setting. If you’re using straws, insert a piece to create a hole for hanging while the gelatin is still soft.
  5. Once solidified, gently pop the suncatcher out of the mold and hang in a sunny spot to enjoy the colorful display.

Notes

Custom colors and various edible flowers can be used for different designs. Suncatchers should be kept out of direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve their colors.
