Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Edible food coloring (purple, blue, pink)
- Edible glitter or star confetti
- Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
- Wax paper or a baking sheet
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples to remove any wax or residue. Pat them dry with a towel.
- Push the lollipop sticks or skewers into the top of each apple, about halfway.
- In a large pot, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat.
- Stir slowly until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Using a candy thermometer, cook until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Quickly dip each apple into the hot caramel, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Hold the apple upside down to let excess caramel drip off.
- Place the apples on wax paper or a baking sheet to set for about 10 minutes.
- Divide the cooled caramel into small bowls and add different colors of edible food coloring.
- Using a spoon, drizzle the colored caramel over each apple, allowing the colors to blend.
- While the caramel is still warm, sprinkle edible glitter or star confetti on top for a sparkling finish.
