Ingredients

- 6–8 clean eggshells, thoroughly rinsed and dried
- Food coloring (various colors)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- Clear glass container (or multiple bowls)
- Spoon for mixing
Instructions
- Crack the eggs, saving the shells for the project.
- Rinse out the insides of the eggshells to remove any residue and air dry completely.
- In a clear glass container or bowl, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of Epsom salt, stirring well until the salt completely dissolves.
- If using multiple colors, divide the solution into smaller bowls and add a few drops of food coloring, mixing until desired colors are achieved.
- Carefully pour the colored saltwater solution into each eggshell until they are full.
- Place the filled eggshells upright in a safe location to dry and crystallize, which could take several hours to a few days.
- Be patient and observe the transformation as crystals begin to form as the solution evaporates!
Notes
Experiment with blending different food colors for unique shades. Consider using various containers or molds for different shapes.
