- Eggshells (cleaned and dried)
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups sugar
- Food coloring (your choice)
- Baking sheet
- Wax paper
- Small bowl
Instructions
- Prepare the Eggshells: Rinse and dry the eggshells thoroughly. Use the back of a spoon to crush the shells into small pieces and lay them flat on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
- Create the Sugar Solution: In a small bowl, heat 1 cup of water until warm (not boiling). Gradually stir in 2 cups of sugar until dissolved completely, creating a supersaturated solution.
- Add Color: Add a few drops of food coloring to the sugar solution and stir well.
- Combine & Pour: Pour the colored sugar solution over the crushed eggshells, ensuring they are fully covered. Leave the mixture undisturbed in a warm, dry area for 24-48 hours.
- Observe the Crystallization: Check your eggshells daily and enjoy watching the crystals grow. Once crystallization is complete, gently remove them from the wax paper.
