Description

Engage in a fun craft project to create beautiful galaxy crystals using eggshells, blending creativity with science.

Ingredients

  • Eggshells (cleaned and dried)
  • Water
  • Borax (sodium borate)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Small bowls or cups
  • Spoon or stir stick
  • Optional: Glitter for extra sparkle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggshells: Clean and dry the eggshells, removing any egg residue. Let them dry completely. Place the empty eggshells upright in a sturdy container.
  2. Mix Borax Solution: In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of borax with 1 cup of hot water. Stir until the borax is fully dissolved.
  3. Add Color: Introduce a few drops of food coloring into the solution for a vibrant effect. Swirl gently with a spoon.
  4. Pour Mixture: Carefully pour the colored borax solution into each eggshell until filled.
  5. Set to Crystalize: Allow your eggshells to sit undisturbed at room temperature. After 6-8 hours, you should start to see crystal formations.
  6. Remove Crystals: Once your desired crystal growth is achieved, carefully tip the eggshells to drain out the excess solution.
