Ingredients
- Borax laundry detergent
- Hot water
- Pipe cleaners (in various colors)
- String or fishing line
- A jar or glass container
- A spoon
- Optional: food coloring or glitter for decoration
Instructions
- Bend and twist pipe cleaners into desired shapes (stars, snowflakes, etc.), leaving a small loop at the top for hanging.
- Heat water until almost boiling. For every cup of hot water, add three tablespoons of Borax and stir until dissolved.
- Tie the string to the top loop of the shaped pipe cleaner and lower it into the jar, ensuring it hangs freely.
- Pour the hot Borax solution into the jar until the pipe cleaner is fully submerged.
- Leave the jar in a cool place undisturbed for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow crystals to form.
- Carefully remove the pipe cleaner shape once the crystals have formed, let it dry, and hang or display it as desired.
Notes
Experiment with different shapes, colors, and materials. Consider adding glitter for extra sparkle and creating themed shapes for holidays.
