Description

A hands-on project to create a stunning icy tree inspired by Frozen’s Elsa, combining art with science.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small tree branch (approx. 12 inches tall)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of Epsom salt
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A bowl or container for mixing
  • Freezer or outdoor cold space
  • Plastic gloves (optional)
  • Baking sheet or tray for freezing

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the Epsom salt with water until it dissolves.
  2. Add food coloring to create your desired shade.
  3. Position the small branch upright on a baking sheet or tray.
  4. Pour or spoon the Epsom salt solution over the branch.
  5. Place the tray in the freezer or a very cold outdoor area and let it sit for several hours, preferably overnight.
  6. Once frozen, gently remove the icy tree from the mixture and enjoy your creation.

Notes

Experiment with different branch sizes, or add glitter for customization. You can substitute Epsom salt with regular table salt for different effects.
