Ingredients

  • 3 cups of Borax (a laundry booster)
  • Blue food coloring
  • Pipe cleaners (white or blue)
  • A glass jar or bowl
  • String (optional)
  • A stirring stick

Instructions

  1. Shape the Pipe Cleaners: Bend the pipe cleaners into the shape of a snowflake.
  2. Optional: Attach a string to hang your snowflake later.
  3. Boil Water: Heat 1 cup of water until it is hot but not boiling.
  4. Add Borax: Stir in 3 cups of Borax until dissolved.
  5. Add Color: Mix in a few drops of blue food coloring.
  6. Submerge the Pipe Cleaners: Place your pipe cleaner snowflake in the Borax solution.
  7. Wait: Allow it to sit undisturbed for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  8. Remove the Snowflake: After waiting, take the snowflake out of the solution.
  9. Rinse and Dry: Rinse under cold water and set on a paper towel to dry.
