Ingredients

Scale
  • Boric acid or Epsom salt
  • 1 cup of water
  • Blue food coloring
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors)
  • String
  • Wide mouth jar or bowl
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Baking tray or parchment paper (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pipe Cleaner Shape: Twist together pipe cleaners to create a snowflake shape.
  2. Mix the Crystal Solution: Mix 1 cup of water with 3 tablespoons of boric acid/Epsom salt until fully dissolved, then add blue food coloring.
  3. Set Up for Crystallization: Tie a string around the center of the snowflake and attach it to a pencil resting across the jar mouth. Submerge the snowflake in the solution.
  4. Let the Magic Happen: Allow the jar to sit undisturbed for 24-48 hours.
