Description

A fun and colorful project that combines creativity with basic chemistry concepts for kids and adults alike. Make your own fizzy creations that bubble and fizz!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Citric acid
  • Various colors of Food coloring
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Muffin tin or silicone molds
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Optional: Essential oils for scent

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Molds: Use a muffin tin or silicone molds to shape your fizzy rocks.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and citric acid. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Add Color: Divide the dry mixture into separate bowls for each color you want and add food coloring.
  4. Add Water: Slowly add water to the mixture, a little at a time, stirring until it holds together.
  5. Pack Your Mixture: Firmly pack the colored mixtures into your molds, ensuring they hold their shape.
  6. Drying Time: Let the mixtures dry for at least 24 hours.
  7. Experience the Fizz: Once dry, pop the rocks out of the molds and drop them in water to see them fizz!

Notes

Customize colors and scents for unique variations. Use vinegar for a different fizzing reaction.
