Description

Create vibrant and playful fizzing sidewalk chalk that combines art and science, providing interactive fun for all ages!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Silicone molds or paper cups
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spoon
  • Measuring cups

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water to the dry mixture and mix until it forms a thick paste.
  3. Separate the mixture into smaller bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each, mixing well.
  4. Spoon the colored mixtures into silicone molds or paper cups and smooth the tops.
  5. Carefully pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar over the filled molds and watch it fizz.
  6. Let the chalk dry for at least 24 hours before removing from molds.

Notes

Experiment with different mold shapes and natural food colorings. Mixing in glitter adds a sparkly effect.
