Description

A fun and educational activity that showcases colorful chemical reactions to create a mesmerizing tornado effect in a bottle.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Clear plastic or glass bottle with a wide mouth
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • Various colors of food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap
  • Dropper or pipette
  • Small funnel (optional)
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your bottle by rinsing it clean and ensuring it’s dry. Set it on a stable surface to prevent spills.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda into the bottle using the funnel.
  3. Mix a few drops of food coloring with a small amount of water in a separate cup.
  4. Pour 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap into the bottle.
  5. Add your colored water by dropping several pipettes directly on top of the baking soda mixture.
  6. Start the reaction by carefully pouring 1 cup of vinegar into the bottle.

Notes

Customize colors and scents, and consider adding glitter for visual effects.
