Description

A fun and colorful craft activity that mimics the bursts of fireworks using straws and acrylic paint.

Ingredients

  • White cardstock or heavy paper
  • Acrylic paint (various colors)
  • Drinking straws
  • Water (for thinning paint, if needed)
  • Paper plates (for mixing paint)
  • Old newspaper or plastic table covering (for easy cleanup)
  • Optional: Glitter or metallic paint for added sparkle

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying down newspaper or plastic to protect your surface.
  2. On a paper plate, squeeze out small blobs of acrylic paint, mixing colors if desired.
  3. Take a drinking straw, dip one end in your paint, and bring the other end to your mouth.
  4. Position the straw over the cardstock and blow gently to create splatters and bursts.
  5. Allow the first layer to dry, then repeat with different colors and optional glitter or metallic paint.
  6. Once satisfied, set aside your artwork to dry completely.

Notes

Experiment with different straw sizes for various splatter effects. Incorporate other materials for added texture.
