Instructions

  1. Mix Sugar and Water: Combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water in a saucepan.
  2. Heat: Gently heat the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves, stirring consistently.
  3. Divide Mixture: Once dissolved, divide the sugar mixture into separate bowls for each color.
  4. Add Food Coloring: Add your desired food coloring to each bowl, stirring until vibrant.
  5. Fill Containers: Using a piping bag or a ziplock bag, layer the colored sugar into small containers.
  6. Create the Explosion Effect: Layer alternating colors for a rainbow effect.
  7. Optional Drying: Spread excess mixture on a baking sheet to dry if desired.
  8. Let Sit: Allow the layered sugar containers to sit for at least 30 minutes to set.
