Description

A fun and engaging fireworks art project that allows you to express your creativity using simple materials.

Ingredients

  • Black construction paper
  • Watercolor paints or liquid food coloring
  • Straws (regular or reusable)
  • Plates (for mixing colors)
  • Cup of water
  • Paper towels
  • Paintbrush (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down newspapers or a plastic cover to protect surfaces. Gather all the materials for easy access.
  2. Create Your Paint Mix: On a plate, squirt out some watercolor paint or liquid food coloring. Add a small amount of water to achieve a more fluid consistency.
  3. Start Blowing Fireworks: Dip the end of the straw into the color mixture. Hold the straw close to the black construction paper and blow gently to create ‘fireworks’ splatters. Alternate colors to create a bursting effect, and layer to enhance the visual impact.
  4. Experiment with Designs: Try different straw lengths or sizes to produce varied effects. Use a paintbrush for finer details if desired.
  5. Let Your Art Dry: Allow the artwork to dry completely before handling to avoid smudging.

Notes

Supervise young children during the project, especially when using food coloring to avoid stains.
