- 1 film canister with a tight-fitting lid
- 1–2 Alka-Seltzer tablets (or similar effervescent tablets)
- Water
- Safety goggles (optional)
- Measuring spoon (teaspoon)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace on a flat, stable surface outdoors and don safety goggles if desired.
- Pour about 1-2 teaspoons of water into the film canister, ensuring it doesn’t overfill.
- Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet in half.
- Drop the Alka-Seltzer half into the canister and securely shut the lid.
- Turn the canister upside down on the ground and step back to watch the launch.
- Discuss the experience to enhance learning.
Notes
Customize by trying different amounts of water or tablet sizes, and consider decorating the canisters for fun. Adult supervision is recommended for safety.
