Description

A nostalgic apple crisp recipe that wraps you in the warmth of fall with its sweet, crunchy topping and beloved Granny Smith apples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with ½ cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, flour, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms crumbs. If desired, fold in the chopped pecans for added crunch.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a baking dish (about 9×13 inches). Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze before baking for up to 3 months.
