Description

A dazzling science experiment that combines creativity and chemistry, demonstrating liquid density through a fun and colorful volcanic eruption.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup salt
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Plastic or glass container (for the volcano)
  • Tray or large plate (to catch overflow)
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions

  1. Prepare your volcano structure by placing the container on a tray. Mold baking soda around the container for a volcano shape if desired.
  2. Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of salt in a separate bowl and stir. Add food coloring and mix thoroughly.
  3. Pour the baking soda and salt mixture into the container at the center of your volcano.
  4. Measure out 1 cup of vinegar and slowly pour it into the volcano and watch the eruption!

Notes

Use multiple colors of food coloring for a rainbow effect or add essential oils for scented eruptions. Experiment with container shapes for varying eruption heights!
