Description
A dazzling science experiment that combines creativity and chemistry, demonstrating liquid density through a fun and colorful volcanic eruption.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup salt
- Food coloring (various colors)
- Plastic or glass container (for the volcano)
- Tray or large plate (to catch overflow)
- Measuring cups
- Spoon for mixing
Instructions
- Prepare your volcano structure by placing the container on a tray. Mold baking soda around the container for a volcano shape if desired.
- Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of salt in a separate bowl and stir. Add food coloring and mix thoroughly.
- Pour the baking soda and salt mixture into the container at the center of your volcano.
- Measure out 1 cup of vinegar and slowly pour it into the volcano and watch the eruption!
Notes
Use multiple colors of food coloring for a rainbow effect or add essential oils for scented eruptions. Experiment with container shapes for varying eruption heights!
