- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon dish soap
- Food coloring (optional)
- Serving tray or baking sheet
- Small measuring spoons
- Knife (for adults)
- Spoon or stirring stick
Instructions
- Cut the tops off each lemon to create a “volcano” peak.
- Hollow out the lemons using a spoon to create space for the eruption.
- In a separate bowl, mix baking soda and dish soap.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture.
- Pour the mixture into the hollowed-out lemons.
- Stand back and watch the volcano erupt when the baking soda reacts with the lemon juice!
Notes
Consider adding vinegar for a fizzier explosion. Experiment with different citrus fruits or create mini volcanoes with limes.
