Description

A magical science project inspired by Frozen that allows children and adults to witness the captivating process of crystal formation.

Ingredients

  • Borax (1/2 cup)
  • Water (2 cups)
  • A clean glass jar or container
  • A pipe cleaner (shaped like a snowflake)
  • String
  • A pencil or stick
  • Food coloring (optional, for colored crystals)

Instructions

  1. Boil two cups of water in a pot.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup of borax to the boiling water, stirring until dissolved.
  3. If you want colored crystals, stir in a few drops of food coloring.
  4. Twist the pipe cleaner into a snowflake shape or any design you prefer.
  5. Tie a string to the top of the pipe cleaner shape.
  6. Tie the other end of the string to a pencil or stick, and suspend the pipe cleaner in the jar without it touching the bottom.
  7. Place the jar in a quiet, undisturbed location.
  8. Observe as crystals form on the pipe cleaner over the next few hours to days.

Notes
