Description

Transform ordinary eggshells into beautiful crystalline decor with this fun and educational craft project.

Ingredients

  • Clean eggshells (halved)
  • Epsom salt or borax
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Water
  • Small bowls or containers
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Dropper or pipette (optional)
  • Baking sheet (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Clean the eggshell halves thoroughly and allow them to dry completely.
  2. Arrange the dried eggshells upside down on a baking sheet for easy access.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of hot water with 1/4 cup of Epsom salt or borax and stir until dissolved.
  4. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir again.
  5. Carefully pour the prepared solution into each eggshell half, filling them about halfway.
  6. Leave the filled eggshells in a warm, undisturbed area for several hours or overnight to create crystals.
  7. Check your eggshells every few hours to observe crystal growth.
  8. Once the crystals have formed, allow the eggshells to dry completely on the baking sheet before displaying your creations.

Notes

You can experiment with different colors, salts, and even add glitter for extra sparkle. Handle the eggshells with care to avoid breaking.
