Ingredients
- Clean eggshells (about 5-10)
- White vinegar
- Water
- Epsom salt (or sugar for a sweeter option)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Shallow dish or tray
- Small stirring stick or spoon
Instructions
- Prepare the eggshells: Rinse the eggshells thoroughly to remove any egg residue and allow them to dry completely on a kitchen towel.
- Create the vinegar solution: In a bowl, mix equal parts of white vinegar and water. Pour the mixture over the dried eggshells in a shallow dish.
- Add the Epsom salt: While the eggshells are soaking, warm 2 cups of water in a separate container. Add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt or sugar and stir until dissolved. Optionally, add food coloring at this stage for vibrancy.
- Combine and crystallize: Pour the Epsom salt solution over the eggshells in the shallow dish. Allow the mixture to sit undisturbed for 24 to 48 hours.
- Observe and enjoy: After the waiting period, check your eggshells for crystal formation. You should see beautiful, frosted crystals forming on the shells.
- Display: Rinse off any excess salt and carefully arrange your finished eggshell crystals in a display or give them as gifts!
Notes
