Description

A whimsical recipe for making edible glass candy for decoration or unique treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Flavor extracts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a saucepan, mix granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  3. Over medium heat, stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Once combined, stop stirring and use a candy thermometer to heat the mixture to 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Quickly add food coloring and flavor extracts if desired; stir gently to combine.
  6. Carefully pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly.
  7. Let the glass cool completely at room temperature until solid.
  8. Once hardened, break the glass into shards for decorating desserts.

Notes

Flavor Swaps: Experiment with different extracts like vanilla, almond, or mint for various flavors. Keep broken pieces in an airtight container to ensure crunchiness.
