Description

A fun and whimsical cake that resembles a fish bowl, perfect for any aquatic-themed party.


Ingredients

  • 2 round cakes (any flavor)
  • 1 batch of buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 clear acrylic bowl (serving bowl)
  • Blue gelatin (for ‘water’)
  • Gummy fish or sea creatures (for decoration)
  • Crushed graham crackers (for ‘sand’)
  • Food coloring (optional, for frosting)
  • Edible glitter or shimmer (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and prepare the cake batter according to the recipe you choose.
  2. Grease and flour your cake pans before pouring the batter.
  3. Bake until golden brown, then let the cakes cool completely.
  4. If making homemade frosting, beat together softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a splash of milk until fluffy. If desired, add food coloring to create a blue hue for the ‘water.’
  5. Place one cooled cake layer in the bottom of the clear bowl.
  6. Spread a thick layer of buttercream frosting on top of the first cake layer.
  7. Add the second cake layer on top of the frosting.
  8. Prepare blue gelatin according to package instructions and let it set slightly until it’s thick but pourable.
  9. Carefully pour the gelatin into the bowl around the cake layers to represent water.
  10. Sprinkle crushed graham crackers around the edge of the bowl for ‘sand.’
  11. Add gummy fish and sea creatures onto the gelatin surface.
  12. Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter for a magical touch.
