Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of glycerin
- Food coloring (optional)
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- Cookie cutters or molds
- String or fishing line (for hanging)
- Scissors
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, cornstarch, vinegar, and glycerin. Stir well to ensure there are no lumps.
- Place the saucepan on medium heat and continuously stir the mixture until it thickens (about 3-5 minutes), becoming translucent and gelatinous.
- Add food coloring if desired and mix thoroughly for an even hue.
- Lay a sheet of wax or parchment paper on a flat surface and pour the bioplastic mixture into cookie cutters or molds, aiming for a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Allow the filled molds to cool and set for at least 24 hours at room temperature. Then, gently remove the suncatchers from the molds.
- Use scissors to create small holes at the top of each suncatcher and thread a piece of string or fishing line through the holes for hanging.
Notes
