Description

Make charming salt dough cat ornaments with simple ingredients. Perfect for holiday décor or as personalized gifts.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Paint (acrylic or watercolor) for decoration
  • Clear sealant (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of water, mixing until a dough forms. Use your hands for the best results!
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it’s smooth and pliable.
  4. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Use a cat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your ornaments, or create your own shapes with a knife.
  6. Make a small hole at the top of each ornament for hanging (a straw works well for this)!
  7. Place the shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake in a 200°F (93°C) oven for about 2-3 hours or until completely dry and hard.
  9. Let cool before decorating.
  10. Once completely cooled, use paint to decorate your ornaments however you desire.
  11. Allow the paint to dry completely. If desired, apply a clear sealant for longevity.

Notes

To prevent cracking during baking, ensure the dough is rolled evenly and baked slowly at a low temperature. Customize shapes and colors for fun variations.
