Description

A simple and fun recipe to make homemade playdough using basic pantry ingredients, perfect for kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 2 cups of water to the dry ingredients.
  3. If you want colored playdough, add a few drops of food coloring to the mix and adjust for intensity.
  4. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it forms a dough, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Remove the dough from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Knead the dough by hand until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the playdough in an airtight container for storage; it lasts for a few weeks when stored properly.

Notes

You can customize colors and add scents with essential oils. For a gluten-free option, use almond flour or a gluten-free blend.
