A fun and easy craft that transforms plain rice into colorful treasures for sensory bins and educational activities.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dry rice
  • Food coloring or natural dye (turmeric, beet juice, etc.)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar (optional, enhances color)
  • Ziplock bags or bowls for mixing
  • Baking sheet for drying

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup of dry rice and place it in a Ziplock bag or bowl.
  2. Add 1-2 drops of food coloring or mix natural dye with water and pour it over the rice.
  3. If using vinegar, add it to the mixture for improved dye effect.
  4. Seal the bag and shake, or stir the bowl until the rice is evenly coated.
  5. Spread the dyed rice on a baking sheet and allow it to air dry for at least 15-20 minutes or until completely dry.
