Description

Create mesmerizing winter sensory jars that provide calming sensory experiences for children, perfect for indoor play during winter months.

Ingredients

  • Clean glass jar (mason jar or clear container with lid)
  • Distilled water
  • Clear glue or glycerin
  • Epsom salt or white glitter (for snow effect)
  • Winter-themed decorations (e.g., faux snowflakes, miniature trees, pinecones)
  • Optional: food coloring or liquid watercolors
  • Optional: small gemstones or beads for added sparkle
  • Spoon for stirring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean your glass jar thoroughly and ensure it’s dry before use.
  2. In a bowl, mix around 1 cup of distilled water with 2 tablespoons of clear glue or glycerin to create a slow-moving snow effect.
  3. Add in 2-3 tablespoons of epsom salt or white glitter for that ‘snow’ effect in the jar.
  4. Gently place your winter-themed decorations inside the jar.
  5. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolor to tint the water.
  6. Pour the glue mixture carefully into the jar, leaving some space at the top and secure the lid tightly.
  7. Shake the jar gently to initiate the snowfall effect and enjoy the calming visuals.

Notes

Customize decorations and experiment with colors for unique sensory jars. Always supervise children during play.
