Create a beautiful DIY sun catcher to brighten up your space with colorful light and engage in a fun craft project suitable for all ages.
Ingredients
- Clear plastic or glass (like an old CD, transparency sheet, or glass jar lid)
- Colored tissue paper or glass paints
- Scissors
- Glue (preferably clear-drying)
- String or fishing line (for hanging)
- Hole punch (optional)
- Paint brushes (if using glass paint)
- Wax paper (for drying)
Instructions
- Prepare the base: Choose your base material (CD or jar lid) and ensure it’s clean. If using a transparency sheet, cut it to your desired size.
- Create your design: Cut colored tissue paper into various shapes (squares, circles, or abstract designs) and arrange them.
- Apply the tissue paper: Use glue to attach the tissue paper onto one side of the base material, ensuring edges are glued down.
- Seal your design (optional): If using glass paints, apply a thin layer to cover gaps and let it dry on wax paper for 30-60 minutes.
- Add hanging mechanism: Punch a hole at the top of your design and thread string or fishing line through it for hanging.
- Hang and enjoy: Find a perfect spot to hang your sun catcher and enjoy the colorful patterns.
