Description
Create charming summer napkins adorned with pressed ferns to bring nature into your dining experience.
Ingredients
- White cotton or linen napkins
- Fresh ferns (or leaves of your choice)
- Heavy books or a flower press
- Iron
- Parchment paper
- Fabric glue (optional)
- Scissors
- Crafting brush (if using fabric glue)
Instructions
- Collect fresh ferns during a nature walk, choosing vibrant, flat leaves.
- Arrange ferns between sheets of parchment paper and place in a heavy book or flower press; leave for about a week to dry.
- Iron the cotton or linen napkins to remove wrinkles and ensure a flat surface.
- Arrange the pressed ferns on the napkins according to your preference.
- If using fabric glue, apply a thin layer to the back of the fern and press onto the napkin. Alternatively, sew the ferns onto the fabric for a timeless finish.
- Allow the napkins to dry if glue was used and iron them again to secure everything.
Notes
Experiment with different types of ferns, fabrics, and stenciled designs for seasonal themes. Store napkins flat in a cool, dry place.
