Description
Create vibrant and non-toxic soap crayons that are perfect for artists of all ages. Easy to make and customizable, these crayons provide a safe alternative to traditional crayons.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup glycerin soap base (clear or white)
- Soap colorants (liquid or powdered)
- Essential oils (optional, for scent)
- Silicone molds (various shapes)
- Microwave-safe bowl
- Stirring stick or spoon
- Cutting board (for cutting the soap base)
- Knife (for cutting the soap base)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Find a clean, flat surface to work on. Lay down newspaper or a protective covering to catch spills.
- Cut the Soap Base: Use a knife to chop the glycerin soap base into smaller cubes (about 1-inch pieces) to help it melt evenly.
- Melt the Soap: Place the soap cubes in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each round until fully melted. Be cautious to avoid boiling.
- Add Color and Scent: Once melted, divide the soap into different bowls (if you want multiple colors). Add a few drops of soap colorants and stir until you achieve your desired shade. For added fragrance, mix in a few drops of essential oils.
- Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the colored soap mixture into your silicone molds. Fill each mold evenly, leaving a bit of space at the top.
- Let it Set: Allow the soap crayons to sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours until completely solid. Once set, gently remove them from the molds.
Notes
These crayons are non-toxic and safe for children, making them a great project for family activities. Always supervise young kids during the process.
