Description

A fun and educational DIY project that combines chemistry and creativity to create a snowy volcano that erupts with fizzy ‘lava’.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons dish soap
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Shaving cream
  • A large tray or baking sheet
  • Small glass or cup
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Spread a generous amount of shaving cream in a large tray to create a snowy landscape and mold it into a mini volcano.
  2. In a small glass, combine baking soda and dish soap, stirring gently. Add food coloring if desired.
  3. Pour vinegar into the volcano’s pit and watch the eruption!
  4. Observe the fizzy reaction and take pictures of the display.

Notes

For added effects, use colored shaving cream or glitter. Substitute vinegar with lemon juice for a different scent and reaction.
