Description

Create beautiful and personalized salt dough ornaments for home decor or as unique gifts. This fun and easy craft is perfect for all ages!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • Acrylic paints (for decorating)
  • Clear sealant (optional for finishing)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add water while stirring until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it’s smooth and pliable.
  3. On a clean surface, sprinkle some flour to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Use cookie cutters to create shapes or simply mold by hand.
  5. Use a straw or skewer to poke a hole for hanging.
  6. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Place ornaments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 2-3 hours until hard. You’ll know they’re ready when they feel solid and dry!
  8. Allow the ornaments to cool completely. Decorate with acrylic paints or markers once cooled.

Notes

Experiment with textures by pressing leaves or stamps into the dough. For a holiday scent, consider adding cinnamon to the dough.
