Description

Ingredients

  • Clear plastic bottle or glass jar
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets or baking soda and vinegar
  • Flashlight (optional for glowing effect)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base:
    • Fill the Bottle: Pour water into your bottle until it’s about one-quarter full.
    • Add Oil: Slowly add vegetable oil, filling the rest of the bottle, leaving some space at the top.
  2. Create Color Layers:
    • Add Color: Squeeze drops of food coloring into the bottle.
  3. Activate the Lava Effect:
    • Add the Reaction Ingredient: Drop in half of an Alka-Seltzer tablet or mix baking soda with vinegar and add it to the bottle.
    • Observe the Reaction: Watch the bubbles rise to create the lava lamp effect.
  4. Enhance the Glow:
    • Light It Up: Shine a flashlight under the bottle to enhance the glow.
