Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons of Borax
- Food coloring (variety of colors)
- Clear glass jar or container
- Pipe cleaners (in various colors)
- String
- Pencil or stick for hanging
- Optional: Glitter for extra sparkle
Instructions
- Shape the pipe cleaners into tree shapes or simple designs like spirals.
- Tie a piece of string around the top of the pipe cleaner shape and attach it to a pencil or stick.
- Boil 1 cup of water.
- Stir in 3 tablespoons of Borax until fully dissolved.
- Add several drops of food coloring to achieve desired shades.
- Place the pipe cleaner designs into the jar so they hang suspended in the solution.
- Set the jar in a quiet location for 24-48 hours, undisturbed.
- Watch the beautiful crystals form around the pipe cleaners.
- After 24-48 hours, carefully remove the crystal forest from the jar.
- Allow it to dry completely before displaying.

Experiment with different types of salt for various textures and add essential oils for fragrance.
