Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (your choice)
  • Essential oils (optional, for scent)

  • Spoon for stirring

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a clean, flat area for making the play dough.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir until evenly mixed.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate pot, mix water, vegetable oil, and food coloring. Add essential oils for a scent if desired.
  4. Combine and Cook: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until it forms a dough.
  5. Heat the Mixture: Place the pot over medium heat, stirring continuously as the dough thickens.
  6. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a clean surface after it pulls from the pot sides, kneading it until smooth.
  7. Store Properly: Let it cool and store in an airtight container.
