Description

Create a charming plastic bottle turtle while promoting recycling and creativity.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large empty plastic bottle (2-liter soda bottle works well)
  • Scissors
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Googly eyes
  • Craft glue
  • Optional: Colored markers, decorative stickers, or glitter
  • Optional: Garden stakes (for outdoor display)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the plastic bottle by cleaning and removing the label.
  2. Using scissors, cut the bottle in half, saving the bottom half for the turtle’s shell.
  3. Paint the outside of the bottle with green acrylic paint and allow it to dry completely.
  4. Cut pieces from the remaining bottle to shape the turtle’s head and legs.
  5. Attach the head and legs to the shell using craft glue and let dry.
  6. Glue googly eyes onto the head and add pupils if desired.
  7. Personalize your turtle with colored markers or decorative stickers and add glitter for sparkle.

Notes

Consider making a family of turtles in different sizes and colors. Use this craft as an educational tool for recycling and ocean conservation.
