Description

Create enchanting paper star lanterns that add a warm glow to any space. Perfect for home decor, parties, or handmade gifts.

Ingredients

  • Colored paper or cardstock (various colors)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Craft glue or double-sided tape
  • String or LED tea lights (for illumination)
  • Optional: Decorative items (glitter, markers, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Paper: Choose your colored paper or cardstock and draw a square (e.g., 6” x 6”) on the paper.
  2. Fold the Square: Fold the square diagonally in half to form a triangle, then unfold and create a cross pattern.
  3. Cut the Star Design: Cut slits from the folded edge of the triangle to about 1 inch from the top, spacing them about an inch apart. Open the triangle to reveal the star shape.
  4. Assemble the Lantern: Fold the star back up, overlapping the edges to create depth and secure with glue or tape.
  5. Add a Light Source: Insert string lights or place LED tea lights underneath the lantern.
  6. Display Your Creation: Hang your lanterns or place them on tables and shelves to enjoy their glow!

Notes

Try using wrapping paper or old maps for a unique look. You can also glue glitter onto the paper before assembly for a twinkling effect.
