Description

A creative and easy recipe for making your own DIY ornament dough to personalize your holiday decorations.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Cookie cutters (various shapes)
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)
  • Paint and brushes (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup salt.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup water and 1 tsp vegetable oil, mixing until the dough is smooth and pliable.
  3. Dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and transfer them onto a baking sheet.
  5. Use a straw to punch holes at the top of each ornament for hanging.
  6. Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C) and bake for 2 to 3 hours until hard and completely dried out.
  7. Once cooled, decorate with paint and brushes, letting the paint dry completely.
  8. Thread string or ribbon through the holes and tie knots for hanging.

Notes

Add spices like cinnamon for fragrance, and use various materials for decoration.
