Create your own mosquito repellent candles using natural ingredients to keep pesky insects away while enjoying a pleasant aroma outdoors.

Ingredients

  • Beeswax or soy wax
  • Essential oils (e.g., citronella, lemon eucalyptus, lavender)
  • Candle wicks
  • Containers (glass jars, tin cans, or silicone molds)
  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • Stirring utensil
  • Thermometer (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying down newspaper or a silicone mat, and gather all materials.
  2. Melt the wax using a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, stirring occasionally until fully melted.
  3. Add essential oils to the melted wax and stir well.
  4. Secure the wick in the center of your container with a small amount of melted wax.
  5. Pour the melted wax into the container, making sure the wick stays centered.
  6. Let the candle cool and harden completely for 2-3 hours, then trim the wick to about ¼ inch above the surface.
