Ingredients

  • Clear plastic or glass bottles (small, like baby food jars)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Water
  • Food coloring (your choice of colors)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets (or similar effervescent tablets)
  • Glitter (optional for added sparkle)
  • Small funnel (for easy pouring)
  • Small measuring cup or spoon

Instructions

  1. Clean the Containers: Ensure your bottles are clean and dry.
  2. Using the funnel, fill each bottle about one-third full with water.
  3. Carefully pour vegetable oil into the bottle until it is nearly full, leaving some space at the top.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring and observe it mix with the water below.
  5. If desired, sprinkle in a bit of glitter for extra flair.
  6. Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into quarters and add one piece to the bottle to create the bubbling effect.
  7. Seal the bottle tightly with its lid. Use hot glue for added security if crafting with children.
