Create your own mesmerizing DIY Lava Lamp using simple materials for an interactive and educational project.
Ingredients
- Clear glass or plastic bottle (with a lid)
- Vegetable oil
- Water
- Food coloring (any color)
- Alka-Seltzer tablets
- Funnel (optional)
- Optional: Glitter or small beads
Instructions
- Prepare the Bottle: Start with a clean, dry bottle. Fill the bottle about one-quarter full with water using a funnel.
- Add Color: Add several drops of food coloring to the water and swirl gently to mix.
- Insert the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into the bottle until it’s nearly full, leaving space at the top.
- Create the Lava Effect: Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet in half and drop one half into the bottle. Watch the bubbles rise!
- Repeat as Desired: Add more Alka-Seltzer as needed for continued bubbling, and cap the bottle when not in use.
Notes
Add glitter or small beads for sparkle. Experiment with different colors and container shapes for unique designs.
