Description

A fun and engaging DIY project that encourages kids to create colorful lanterns using simple materials and techniques.

Ingredients

  • Empty glass jars (e.g., mason jars, jam jars)
  • Tissue paper (various colors)
  • Mod Podge or white school glue
  • Paintbrush
  • LED tea lights (for safety)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: String or wire for hanging, glitter, sequins, and markers

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by covering with newspaper or cloth.
  2. Cut tissue paper into squares or shapes.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or glue onto the jar’s surface.
  4. Attach tissue paper pieces onto the glued areas of the jar, overlapping them.
  5. Seal everything down with another layer of glue over the top.
  6. Once dry, place an LED tea light inside. For hanging lanterns, attach string or wire to the top.

Notes

Customize the designs with stencils or stamps, and consider using colored cellophane or fabric for different effects.
