Description
A fun and eco-friendly DIY project for kids to create their own colorful lanterns using recycled materials.
Ingredients
- Empty glass jars (e.g., mason jars)
- Recycled paper (tissue paper, magazine pages)
- Non-toxic glue or Mod Podge
- Paintbrush
- LED tealight candles or string lights
- Scissors
- String or ribbon (for hanging)
- Optional: Washi tape, stickers, or other decorative elements
Instructions
- Clean the jars: Remove any labels and wash the jars thoroughly.
- Dry completely: Allow the jars to air dry, or use a cloth.
- Tear or cut recycled paper into small pieces to create decorative paper.
- Use a paintbrush to apply a thin layer of glue around the exterior of the jar.
- Place the torn paper pieces onto the glue, overlapping them slightly.
- Apply another layer of glue over the entire jar to seal the design.
- Let it dry completely for at least 30 minutes.
- Place an LED tealight candle inside the jar or add string lights for illumination.
- Decorate with washi tape, ribbon, or stickers if desired.
- Choose a display spot—whether a table centerpiece or hanging by a window!
