Description
A fun and engaging DIY kids lantern craft that encourages creativity and fine motor skills.
Ingredients
- Clear plastic or glass jar (old jam jars work great)
- Colored tissue paper (or colored cellophane)
- Mod Podge or white glue
- Paintbrush or sponge brush
- LED tea light (for safety)
- Scissors
- String or ribbon (optional for hanging)
- Decorative items (like stickers, glitter, or sequins)
Instructions
- Clean and dry the jar thoroughly to ensure the glue adheres well. Remove any labels.
- Cut the colored tissue paper into small squares or shapes.
- Using the paintbrush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or glue on a small section of the jar.
- Press the tissue paper pieces onto the glued section. Repeat around the jar, overlapping pieces.
- Once all pieces are on, apply another layer of glue over the entire surface to seal it.
- Allow the jar to dry completely, which usually takes a couple of hours.
- Once dry, place the LED tea light inside the jar, turn it on, and enjoy the glow!
